Join us for an encouraging morning focusing on the biblical model of women mentoring women outlined in Titus 2:3-5. Our guest speakers will share practical ways to develop mentoring relationships, encourage spiritual growth, and pass on wisdom across generations of women in the church.
“Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.”

Linda Gumm
Linda describes her life this way: “It’s all about grace.” Jesus’ righteousness was placed on her when she was brought to the font by Christian parents. Linda’s adult life has been spent at home with children, carrying out the responsibilities of a pastor’s wife, working in the secular world for 25 years, involvement in many church ministries, and recently retired.
She and her husband, Tim have seen God’s grace in their four adult children and spouses, and 17 grandchildren. Also, by God’s grace, Linda has experienced the love and nurturing of several mentors throughout her lifetime. Some taught knowingly, and some taught simply through example. Preparing for this retreat has definitely opened her eyes to the mandate in Titus 2.
Jen Mueller
Jen Mueller resides in Jackson, WI, with her lovely husband, Peter and their four children. She graduated from Martin Luther College in December 2006. Jen taught Kindergarten at Garden Homes in Milwaukee, WI, from January 2007 until November 2013. She’s been a stay-at-home mom for almost eleven years. Jen enjoys speaking at women’s events and is so honored to have the opportunity to encourage the women of Mt. Olive.
Cost
To help with the cost of the event, if you are able, please consider a suggested donation of $10.
Afterglow
New for 2024! Join us for an afterglow party following the retreat. This relaxed gathering will be held at Jackie Gawel and Carissa Priewe’s backyards (adjacent to the school playground and gym) and will give us another opportunity to connect and catch up with old and new friends.
Further Discussion
Spend time reading and meditating on Proverbs 31:10-3, the book of Ruth (God’s loving message to his daughters through the ages), 2 Corinthians 5:14—6:2, and Ephesians (God’s message to Christian congregations).
- As an older woman, how can I model and teach others—especially younger women—what it is to love husband and children as a married woman or family and co-workers and friends as a single woman?
- As a younger woman, to whom can I look to see what it means to be a “strong woman” in today’s world?
- As a Christian woman, young or old, married or single, how can I be part of strengthening the relationships within the body of Christ so we all can boldly and clearly proclaim the message of Jesus Christ to the world around us and glorify him with our lives?
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, open my eyes to see your gracious and loving plan for me as a woman: valuable in so many ways and walking in the plans you have also laid out for my life here on earth. Open my eyes to see the value of my sisters in Christ as we all live out the unique plans you have for us, plans that bring great joy and blessing to the lives of all around us. Keep our eyes focused on your Son, who paid what I owe so I can be with you for all eternity. In his name I kneel before you. Amen.
